Job Description
We are seeking a highly competent and experienced Law Tutor to provide structured, exam-focused training for candidates preparing for the NCA (National Committee on Accreditation, Canada) examinations.
The engagement will run for an initial period of 5 months, with a strong emphasis on results, exam performance, and candidate success.
Core Subjects:
- Canadian Constitutional Law
- Canadian Criminal Law
- Foundations of Canadian Law
- Canadian Professional Responsibility
- Administrative Law
- Legal Research and Writing (LRW)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver structured online and in-person classes tailored to the NCA exam format
- Teach Canadian legal principles, not general/common law theory
- Train candidates on:
- Issue spotting
- IRAC application
- Time management under exam conditions
- Answer structuring specific to NCA expectations
- Provide practice questions, mock exams, and marking feedback
- Guide candidates through past NCA question patterns and examiner expectations
Requirements:
- LL.B and BL qualification (mandatory)
- Demonstrable knowledge of Canadian law (not limited to Nigerian or UK law)
- Prior experience teaching or preparing candidates for:
- NCA exams
- Canadian law courses
- Bar or professional law exams
Strong understanding of:
- Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
- Principles of Professional Responsibility in Canada
- Canadian criminal law doctrines and defences
- Ability to teach clearly, practically, and exam-focused
Mandatory Screening Requirement:
Applicants must submit sample teaching materials or evidence of prior teaching, including at least one of the following:
- Recorded lecture (preferred)
- Written teaching notes or lesson plan
- Sample answer to an NCA-style question
- Applications without relevant Canadian law focus or teaching samples will not be considered.
